NEW HERITAGE FILMS is an award winning production company committed to creating impactful projects about our community and the world we live in.

Founded in 1997 by Jamal Joseph and Voza Rivers, New Heritage Films focuses on long and short form documentaries about stories that enrich our culture and spirit both popular and surprising.

Based in Harlem, New Heritage Films was created as the movie making branch of New Heritage Theatre Group, the oldest black non-profit company in New York City, originated in 1964 by the late Roger Furman, a revered playwright and director.

Look outside your window, walk around your streets, feel your neighborhood.

What do you TRULY see?

We are looking for a more just and equal America, to TRULY SEE what happens in our streets, far from the fancy lights of ivory towers. The ghettoization of minorities left too many young people with no choice other than crime and drugs, directing them straight to prison, leaving them helpless and alone. New Heritage Films would like to open your eyes and give you the power of awareness – the TRUE SEE.

We all need to use our TRUE SEE in order to find and capture stories of black women and men, and show them to the world, so that they are not invisible anymore.
